Experience The Magic Of Giving

Abstract:

There are many wonderful teachers out there who specialise in money mindset, money types and money blocks. Financial mindset and practice is part of my own coaching offer as well, and I see many different types of clients.

Many of them are over-givers, afraid to receive. However, once you’ve healed this and trained your “receiving muscle”, giving can be absolute bliss.

Your mission today is to experience the magic of giving.

Task 1: Giving isn’t better than receiving

Before I say anything else, here’s a disclaimer. The belief that giving is better than receiving is rubbish. First of all, it’s based on terrible math. If everyone just gives, there’s nobody to give to!

It’s also unhealthy and keeps us in scarcity to think we’re somehow better humans when we give. Receiving is wonderful and sacred. It doesn’t hurt anyone and should be practised, regularly. One of my favourite ways is to give a silent thanks for every bit of money that comes in, down to the cent coin I find in the street.

Once these things are in place, though, giving can be amazing.

Task 2: The magic of giving

If you manage your finances, you won’t be in danger of over-giving. Most experts recommend dedicating anything from 5 to 10 % of your net income to gifts and donations.

I adore giving gifts. I love making people happy. Donations are great as well – the trick is to select carefully who you’re giving to. One of my favourites is Kiva, where you finance loans for small business ventures in developing countries. But it’s really up to your preference who you give to!

The rather selfish (in the good way) benefit of it is that it opens you up to abundance. There’s not much that feels better than giving. As long as you stay within your budget, go nuts. Make giving a habit, and see what it’ll do to your cashflow.
