Vlog: Tales & Myths & Travels (late summer and early autumn)

Here’s what I’ve been up to in September - and let me tell you, I didn’t spend a lot of time at home! Whilst travelling - all in Croatia, this time - I got to honour several of my passions, for history, mythology, and music.

Let me take you on a journey, from my home near Kvarner all the way to Split and then Zagreb. The undeniable highlight of the vlog is Perunfest, an annual celebration of Croatia’s intangible heritage, with folk tales, arts, and lots of fun. It’s visually stunning and therefore perfect for a vlog.

I hope you’ll enjoy it! And if you’d rather watch on YouTube, please click here.

    Transkript

Here follows the exact transcript of everything said in the video. You can find the same text as actual subtitles, which you can activate in the bottom right corner of the video.

Today, I want to greet you with the view from my window on a sunny morning.

Looking at this footage now, of late summer, is really weird because here I am in a hoodie and with a blanket, and that was the weather just now. It's really cool. It's the end of September and yeah, it is definitely autumn now, but yeah, that's what I want to show you in this vlog, and I'm not going to talk much now, I just want to prepare you that this is the last days of summer and the early days of autumn and what happened and what I've been up to. Because I've been out and about almost every weekend, in a different place every every week and weekend, so you'll see a lot of that. And I hope you'll enjoy it.

    The end of summer

Looking at this footage now, it's hard to believe this was only a month ago. It was the full-on Mediteranean summer feeling.

This is the end of summer. I can feel it. I can smell it! Today, it was still warm, and now there's rain and a thunderstorm, and after today, it won't get warm again. It always happens some time around the beginning of September around here.

In mid-September, I went to Split to once again see my favorite pianist who performed a concert in a stunning historical open air  venue.

    Trips to Split and Zagreb

The next morning, I took a walk through Split and to all my favorite places and little shops and galleries.

And then I was on my way again, only to travel again the following weekend, this time to Zagreb. I had a couple of hospital appointments, and while those are of course not enjoyable, I ended up having a fantastic time in Zagreb, discovering a beautiful Chinese bistro, going shopping and meeting up with with Vjeran to check out the new Museum of Lost Tales, which you absolutely have to check out if you're ever in Zagreb.

It wasn't actually that dark in there. I just hadn't figured out yet how to set my camera.

    Perunfest

And then I was back at home, but the last weekend of the month, I continued with the historic folklore and myths and tales, by going to Perunfest again. This time, Cassandra came with me.

It was wonderful to be back there and see friends that I had made last time when I was there, and just experience this magical wonderful atmosphere again.

Perunfest celebrates the intangible heritage of Croatia, which I think is so important. Much more important is how much fun it is! And you'd be hard pressed to find such a number of musicians, artists, crafters and all around creative minds in one place anywhere else.

And that was the vlog for today. I hope you enjoyed it! If you did, like, comment, subscribe, all the good YouTube stuff, and if you're interested in me and my work, then check out my website, wildspiritscoaching.com. Have a beautiful October and I'll talk to you soon. Bye!
